SupaLite is a lightweight tiled conservatory roof made in Preston, Lancashire. In this SupaLite roof review we rate it 6.9 out of 10: a properly certified roof with a standard U-value of 0.15 and a published guide price, held back by what the manufacturer does not publish, chiefly the homeowner guarantee terms and how it vets its installers. It suits homeowners who want a tiled roof with clear pricing and will check the paperwork before they sign.

We read SupaLite’s product, pricing, installer and business-terms pages, its Stroma Building Control certificate, its Companies House record and the public reviews we could find on 19 October 2026. We have not tested a SupaLite roof ourselves. For the head-to-head with its closest rival, see our SupaLite vs Guardian comparison.

Key Takeaways
  • Certified by Stroma Building Control, not BBA or LABC - system approval certificate 14005 runs from 3 August 2026 to 3 August 2027 and covers 4 Building Regulations requirements
  • 0.15 W/m2K as standard, 0.12 enhanced - the standard specification sits exactly on the 0.15 Part L limit for a new roof element, with no headroom
  • Guide price from around £1,000 + VAT per m2 - SupaLite’s own figure, about £10,000 + VAT for 10m2 without new frames and £15,000 + VAT with them
  • 10-year guarantee headline, homeowner terms unpublished - the only published terms run 10 years from delivery between SupaLite and the installer
  • No Trustpilot score for the roof - its roof profile has 0 reviews, so there is no independent rating with enough reviews to rely on

What Is the SupaLite Tiled Roof System?

The SupaLite tiled roof is a solid, insulated replacement for a glass or polycarbonate conservatory roof. It is made by SupaLite Tiled Roof Systems Ltd, Companies House number 06930456, incorporated in 2009 and based at Walton Summit near Preston, which builds and checks its components in-house.

SupaLite supplies the roof and an independent installer fits it. The range also includes SkyVista glass panels set into the tiled roof, an S1 roof lantern, an S2 glass or polycarbonate roof and an ILite flat roof, but this review covers the tiled roof, which is what most people searching for SupaLite want to know about. Because a solid roof replaces a glazed one, the work needs Building Regulations approval, which SupaLite itself says is mandatory.

SupaLite Roof Cost

SupaLite publishes a guide price, which few roof makers do: around £1,000 + VAT per square metre without new frames and around £1,500 + VAT per square metre with the frames replaced. For a 10m2 conservatory that is about £10,000 + VAT and £15,000 + VAT respectively.

OptionSupaLite guide rateExample for 10m2
Roof only, existing frames keptAround £1,000 + VAT per m2About £10,000 + VAT
Roof and new framesAround £1,500 + VAT per m2About £15,000 + VAT

SupaLite says the price includes removing the old roof, the fully insulated replacement system, an internal plasterboard finish and your chosen tile. Extras such as downlights, SkyVista glass panels or a roof lantern cost more, as do complex shapes. It also says it cannot set or guarantee prices, because each installer quotes its own. Compare these figures with the wider market in our guide to what a tiled conservatory roof costs.

Read the quote line by line

SupaLite does not say whether its per square metre rate is based on roof or floor area, and its figures are "around" amounts. Ask each installer for an itemised written quote that shows VAT, plastering, electrics and the Building Control fee.

What the SupaLite Stroma Certificate Covers

SupaLite’s roof holds system approval certificate 14005 from Stroma Building Control, issued on 3 August 2026 and valid until 3 August 2027. It is not a BBA or LABC certificate, and SupaLite does not claim either. It covers the roof system, not your conservatory as a whole.

Building Regulations requirementWhat the certificate addresses
A1 LoadingThe roof’s structure under load
B4(2) External fire spreadFire spread across the roof
C2 Resistance to moistureCondensation and moisture
L1 Conservation of fuel and powerThermal performance

The certificate has clear limits. Stroma still appraises every installation individually and must be told at least 10 days before work starts. The approval does not cover your existing frame, walls or foundations, so the installer’s surveyor must check those can carry the new roof. It applies to single-storey extensions at ground level, at roof pitches of 12 to 45 degrees, and the product must not be cut or altered on site without SupaLite’s written approval. Our guide to planning permission and Building Regulations for a roof replacement explains the wider process.

SupaLite Build-Up, Tiles and U-Value

The SupaLite roof is an aluminium-framed system with insulation between and beneath the rafters and a lightweight tile on top. SupaLite lists a U-value of 0.15 as standard and 0.12 with its enhanced specification, and says the whole system weighs under 46kg per square metre.

The SupaLite roof build-up. Image: SupaLite
  • Insulation: the Stroma certificate lists 100mm of EPS between the rafters, 25mm of PIR beneath them and 72.5mm insulated plasterboard inside.
  • Structure: an aluminium frame with plywood sarking and a waterproof breathable membrane under the tiles.
  • Tiles: ExtraLight Classic (recycled polymer, under 8kg per m2), ExtraLight Shingle (stone-coated steel, under 7kg per m2) and Tapco Slate, which carries its own 10-year tile guarantee.
  • Shapes: nine roof shapes, including Victorian, Edwardian, gable, lean-to and P-shape.

The U-value deserves a closer look. Part L limits a new roof element in an existing home to 0.15, so the standard SupaLite roof meets the limit exactly with nothing to spare, while the 0.12 option gives a margin. Ask your installer which specification your quote includes and for the as-built calculation. Our guide to conservatory roof U-values explains why this matters for comfort and bills.

SkyVista glass panels

SkyVista is SupaLite’s glass panel for letting light through a tiled roof. SupaLite says its solar control glass reflects up to 60% of solar heat and lets through up to 47% of light, in four standard sizes. It does not publish a U-value for the panel, so ask for one, because Part L sets 2.2 as the limit for a rooflight. If you want more glass than a few panels, our LivinROOF review covers a hybrid design, and our guide to roof lanterns and skylights covers lanterns.

How You Buy a SupaLite Roof

You buy a SupaLite roof through an independent installer, not from SupaLite. The manufacturer says it supplies the roof but does not install it, and that you sign the installation agreement directly with the installer you choose.

SupaLite’s quote form takes your postcode and contact details and passes them to installers near you, and it warns that more than one may get in touch. It describes a nationwide network of approved independent installers, but it does not publish how many there are or how it approves them. That makes your own checks more important: compare at least two written quotes and ask each installer how long it has fitted SupaLite roofs. Our day-by-day roof replacement timeline shows what to expect once you have chosen.

SupaLite Guarantee: What Is and Is Not Published

SupaLite advertises a 10-year guarantee on the roof system, and Tapco Slate tiles add a 10-year tile guarantee. The detailed terms SupaLite publishes are its business terms with installers, and the guarantee a homeowner gets from the installer is listed with no published terms at all.

Under those business terms, SupaLite warrants its products to the installer for 10 years from delivery. The warranty excludes defects caused by not following SupaLite’s instructions, unauthorised alterations and fair wear and tear, and SupaLite caps its liability at the price of the products concerned. Its website lists an "Installer Guarantee" when an independent installer fits the roof, but gives no length or terms, and we found no insurance-backed guarantee scheme. For comparison, Guardian publishes a 10-year product warranty and a separate 10-year workmanship warranty; see our Guardian Warm Roof review.

Get the guarantee in writing before you pay

Ask the installer who gives the workmanship guarantee, how long it lasts, what happens if the installer stops trading, whether it is insurance-backed and whether it transfers when you sell. Get the answers in writing before you pay a deposit.

What Real Users Say About SupaLite

There is no reliable independent rating for the SupaLite roof yet. Its Trustpilot roof profile has no reviews, and the SupaLite SupaStore profile covers a parts shop rather than fitted roofs, so we do not quote a score from either.

SupaLite’s Google business listing showed 4.2 from 46 reviews when we checked, which is too few for us to rate on. Two homeowners who discussed their SupaLite roofs on Mumsnet in 2023 were positive. We found no verified pattern of failures, but no independent audit either, and many Trustpilot pages that rank for SupaLite are installers’ own profiles, which rate the installer rather than the roof. Treat the installer’s references as the review that matters.

SupaLite vs Guardian, LivinROOF and Equinox

SupaLite’s edge over its rivals is price transparency: it is the only one of the four to publish a guide price. Its weakness is the guarantee, where Guardian publishes separate product and workmanship warranties. All four sell through independent installers.

Seven Questions to Ask Before You Sign

Because SupaLite leaves the guarantee and the installation to your installer, these seven questions do the work its website does not. Ask them before you pay anything.

  1. What guarantee do you give, for how long, and can I have the terms in writing?
  2. Who honours the guarantee if you stop trading, and is it insurance-backed?
  3. Which Building Control body will you use, and who applies?
  4. Is my quote for the 0.15 or the 0.12 specification, and can I see the U-value calculation?
  5. Will a surveyor check that my existing frame and walls can carry the roof?
  6. What U-value do the SkyVista panels in my quote achieve?
  7. Can I have an itemised quote showing VAT, plastering, electrics and the Building Control fee?

Who Is SupaLite Best For?

SupaLite is best for homeowners who want a tiled roof with a published starting price and will do their own checks on the installer. If a clear, published guarantee matters more to you than a published price, look at the alternatives first.

  • Choose SupaLite if you want a certified tiled roof and a price you can sanity-check before anyone visits.
  • Choose Guardian instead if you want published product and workmanship warranties.
  • Choose LivinROOF instead if you want a mix of glass and solid panels.
  • Compare more makers in our list of the best conservatory roof companies.

SupaLite Strengths and Weaknesses

SupaLite’s strengths are on paper and in plain view: a current certificate with a number you can check, a 0.15 standard U-value and a published guide price. Its weaknesses are the things it leaves unpublished, from the homeowner guarantee to how it chooses installers.

What we like
✓Current Stroma system approval, certificate 14005
✓0.15 W/m2K as standard with a 0.12 enhanced option
✓Published guide price, which rivals do not offer
✓Three lightweight tile ranges and nine roof shapes
Watch out for
✗Homeowner guarantee terms and installer vetting are not published
✗No Trustpilot score for the roof and a thin independent review record
✗Standard U-value sits exactly on the Part L limit
✗SkyVista panel U-value is not published

Our Verdict

We rate SupaLite 6.9 out of 10. It is a sound, properly certified tiled roof with a price you can check in advance, held back by what the manufacturer does not publish. Pick it if you will ask the seven questions above and get the guarantee in writing.

FAQs

SupaLite’s own cost guide says around £1,000 + VAT per square metre without new frames and around £1,500 + VAT per square metre with frames replaced, or about £10,000 + VAT and £15,000 + VAT for 10m2. It says it cannot set exact prices, so your installer’s written quote decides.

SupaLite holds Stroma Building Control system approval certificate 14005, valid from 3 August 2026 to 3 August 2027. It is not a BBA or LABC certificate. It covers the roof system only, so each installation still needs its own Building Control appraisal, and a surveyor must confirm the existing structure can carry the roof.

SupaLite states 0.15 W/m2K as standard and 0.12 W/m2K with its enhanced specification. Part L limits a new roof element in an existing home to 0.15, so the standard roof meets the limit exactly and the enhanced option adds a margin. Ask which specification your quote includes.

SupaLite advertises a 10-year guarantee, and Tapco Slate tiles carry a 10-year tile guarantee. Its published business terms run the 10-year product warranty from delivery, between SupaLite and the installer. The homeowner’s installer guarantee has no published terms, so ask for them in writing, including who pays if the installer stops trading.

No. SupaLite says it makes and supplies the roof but does not install it, and that you sign the installation agreement directly with your chosen independent installer. Its quote form passes your details to nearby installers, and more than one may contact you. Compare at least two written quotes.

SupaLite says replacing a conservatory roof is generally permitted development, so planning permission is usually not needed. Swapping a glass or polycarbonate roof for a solid one does bring the work under Building Regulations, so budget for the Building Control application and ask your installer who submits it.
