The Payroll Site

Introduction

Did you know that the Payroll Site provides one of the cheapest version of payroll software available on the market today?

Or that the agent accounts allow you to manage payroll for up to 100 individual clients?

In this review, you’ll find out everything you need to know about the Payroll Site, including who they are, what they can offer you and what customers are saying.

Let’s go!

What’s in this review?

Who is the Payroll Site?

The Payroll Site Screenshot

The Payroll Site was created in 2004 when the managing director, Steven Tucker, found other payroll software too complicated to use or too expensive.

They have thousands of happy customers using their software today, and in 2011 they became the first cloud payroll company to achieve the top of the AccountingWEB Software Satisfaction Survey.

So, what do the Payroll Site offer their customers? Let’s take a look.

Online Payroll System

The Payroll Site offers an easy system that you access via your internet browser, so there’s no complicated installations or need to download several different programs to your desktop.

This allows you to set up your payroll within minutes with the free trial that the Payroll Site offers, plus after this trial period costs start from as little as £5.75 a month for five employees.

Due to this capacity, it might be best suited for small to medium-sized businesses, but there are opportunities to expand the number of employees you can sort into your system.

For every new or extra employee, it costs you an extra £1 per employee per month. So for an additional ten employees, your pricing would be £15.75 a month in total.

Here are some of the functions and features of the Payroll Site:

✔ Payroll
✔ PAYE
✔ Payslips
✔ Pensions
✔ P60s
✔ Access your payroll from anywhere
✔ File your RTI to HMRC
✔ Pay month to month in case you change your mind

You can opt for either an employer account, for your SME or if you are an accountant you might want to choose the agent account. So you can run payroll for up to 100 individual clients.

Account Type Employer Account Agent Account
Employee/Client Capacity 5+ 100+
Price £5.75+ £10 – £59
Support Included Included
Payment Method Credit and debit cards, cheques, bank transfers Credit and debit cards, cheques, bank transfers
Payment Terms Monthly, quarterly or annually

Agent Accounts

More suited for accountants and other bookkeeping professionals, the agent account allows you to run payroll for multiple clients with one easy platform.

This allows you to manage up to 100 individual clients for a fee that starts from £10. With an added 50p for every extra employee that your client might have per month.

For instance, having ten clients who might have around two employees each would mean a cost of about £20 per month.

If you are an agent who has a larger amount of clients, there is a maximum fee of £59 per month. This could save you a lot of money when managing up to 100 clients.

Another bonus is that the software is the same as the standard employer account, but you can switch between your clients easily.

The Payroll Site Reviews

When it comes to reviews, the Payroll Site doesn’t have a presence on websites such as Trustpilot, with only one review.

However, on their website they have many customer testimonials. Many state that the software is easier to use than their competitors, more cost-effective and has helpful staff.

Take a look at the online reviews below.

These reviews aren’t always accurate or reliable, but you should consider them before making any firm decisions about your payroll software.

Positive Payroll Site Review

Adam on the Payroll Site: I have used Sage previously, and it is too cumbersome and complex. This site is so easy to use for a small business. We have ten people, and this site shaves the time it was taking me to do payroll by about 50%. Love it. Cost is very fair, back up advice is top notch too.

Carl Jaffer on the Payroll Site: I’ve been using The Payroll Site for over five years now, across three different companies. I always recommend The Payroll Site to my associates and business colleagues.
