Today, Right Fuel Card lists at least 12 fuel and EV card products spanning BP, Shell, Esso, Texaco, Keyfuels and UK Fuels, plus the multi-network Edenred Black card and the Rightcharge EV card.

Right Fuel Card says it serves over 25,000 UK businesses.

It says its cards save money against the pump price (up to 9p per litre, measured against the national average over the previous six weeks) and put all fuel spend on one HMRC-approved invoice.

Shell Fuel Cards

Right Fuel Card offers three Shell cards. Shell CRT is aimed at HGVs, coaches and LCVs that stick to main roads and motorways, Shell Fleet suits mixed fleets of cars, vans and HGVs, and Shell Flexi is a diesel card for fleets that need nationwide coverage.

All three give access to over 1,200 Shell-branded sites, and Shell Fleet and Shell Flexi extend that to more than 3,900 stations through partner networks. Spend goes on one HMRC-approved invoice.

There are three main cards to choose from; Shell CRT, Shell Fleet and Shell Flexi.

Esso Fuel Cards

Right Fuel Card’s Esso cards cover stations on and off motorways, and drivers can collect supermarket reward points such as Tesco Clubcard at participating Esso stations.

Right Fuel Card describes the Commercial card as suited to diesel fleets working town to town, and the National card as better for fleets that travel widely.

There are two main cards to choose from: Esso Commercial and Esso National.

The Esso Commercial card offers:

The Keyfuels card is a diesel card that gives discounted fuel at more than 3,500 multi-branded stations across the UK.

Transactions go on one HMRC-approved invoice, and the online account gives 24/7 access to reporting and controls.

• About 70% motorway coverage.
• Fixed weekly price for diesel; surcharges apply.
• Suitable for cars, vans, HGVs and coaches.

Supermarket Card

The Supermarket card, which Right Fuel Card describes as its Allstar supermarket fuel card (see our Allstar review), is for drivers who mostly refuel in towns and cities. Right Fuel Card says it suits lighter fleets of cars and vans.

What the card offers:

• Pay the pump price at over 3,000 Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons sites, including 1,600 discount diesel sites (swipe and sign only).
• Collect Tesco Clubcard, Sainsbury’s Nectar and Morrisons More points at participating stations.
• One HMRC-approved invoice, paid by Direct Debit.
• Chip and PIN security; Right Fuel Card runs a credit check on your business when you apply.

UK Fuels Card

The UK Fuels card is a diesel card that Right Fuel Card describes as suitable for fleets of all sizes, especially those running routes through towns, cities and rural areas.

You can track transactions in a 24/7 online account, and everything goes on one HMRC-approved invoice.

• More than 4,000 forecourts, including BP, Shell, Esso, Texaco, Gulf, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s; Right Fuel Card says it is the only card accepted at Asda Express sites.
• Fixed weekly price for diesel; surcharges apply at Tesco (including Tesco/Esso) and Sainsbury’s, and fixed pricing applies at non-motorway sites.
• Almost 900 HGV-friendly sites, over 200 motorway and truck stop sites and close to 500 AdBlue sites.
• M6 Toll and Dartford Crossing payments can be added.

Fees to check before applying

Right Fuel Card advertises no network, transaction or onboarding fees, but its published terms allow card and account non-usage charges and refer to a fee matrix available on request.
