The US Farm Bill has proposed cutting 8.7 billion dollars in food aid, even though more families than ever before are struggling to just barely survive. However, Jon Stewart has done a superb job of illuminating the hilarious inanity of these cruel political actions.
“I just want everyone to know that my decision not to serve a second term as Energy Secretary has absolutely nothing to do with the allegations made in this week’s edition of the Onion. While I’m not going to confirm or deny the charges specifically, I will say that clean, renewable solar power is a growing source of U.S. jobs and is becoming more and more affordable, so it’s no surprise that lots of Americans are falling in love with solar.”
The Yes Men are brilliant satirical social activists who are adept at political impersonations, hoax interviews and using humor to highlight the absurdity of entrenched destructive corporate influence. The group is now making a documentary entitled: The Yes Men are Revolting. The movie chronicles some of the group’s clever disruptive actions, focusing on impending climate change disasters in store for our planet if we all continue to do nothing.
Climate Change town crier and leader of the Church of Stop Shopping, Reverend Billy, describes the enormity of Sandy’s death and destruction in New York neighborhoods. He also explains that the global warming tipping point has already been reached, and that NOW is the time for radical change.
One of my favorite political cartoonists, Matt Bors, has just launched a Kickstarter project to help fund the publication of his first collection of work, entitled “Life Begins at Incorporation”. The full color 225 page collection will group the best of his comics together with humorous essays on a wide variety of topics, ranging from the 1% doctrine and terror drones, to Afghanistan and inept politicians confused and befuddled by mysterious lady parts.
So much of the language in political debates just sounds like nonsense bloviating. Many candidates repeatedly do not even attempt to answer questions, instead spewing only meaningless phrases and empty irrelevant soundbites. For me, the most bizarrely accurate analysis of the last presidential debate was provided by Bad Lip Reading. Their nonsensical imagined debate script somehow perfectly captures the truly absurd essence of contrived election campaign theater.
Curious about how Voter ID laws will affect your state? Let Sarah Silverman, in her raunchy comedienne ways, explain this draconian strategy.
At the conclusion of a recent press conference that Mitt Romney gave to double down on his factually inaccurate and grossly inappropriate comments concerning the deadly embassy attacks, the Republican flashed the crowd a smug grin as he turned away from the podium. When I first saw the video, I actually rewound and replayed the footage a few times, because I could not believe the incredible defiant arrogance so thickly dripping from Romney’s face. And just a few hours later, a new online meme was born.
For many years San Francisco’s SPCA has been spaying and neutering feral cats in the city for free to help control the urban feline population. In order to promote their feral cat services, the organization has created Catlandia, a video spoof on the popular Portlandia program.
With his normal scathingly witty insight, Stephen Colbert has taken on the issue of North Carolina’s Amendment One and marriage equality during a recent episode airing May 9, 2012. In this political cycle, is ironic comedy the only way a poignant message can be delivered? Watch the video and find out.
South Carolina native and comedian, Stephen Colbert, announced on his program last night that he might just run for president. Recent polls already show Colbert with 5% support, placing ahead of several candidates who have actually been actively campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination in the state.
Elizabeth Warren is a fiercely intelligent, compassionate and incredibly competent woman, who is very likely to become the next senator from Massachusetts. This soon to be reality is freaking Republicans out so much that they seem to have lost touch with reality. They have just created a hilarious attack ad, complete with scary menacing music, attempting to smear Warren. The ad is so inadvertently funny, that I have difficulty believing that it is really a legitimate commercial, and not just some kind of satirical prank
What would you ask an oil company? How many millions of gallons are you going to continue to spew into our marshlands and coastlines? How many thousands of people and animals will be destroyed by your greed and incompetence? The Second City Network has just created this parody of British Petroleum’s vacuous advertisements, entitled “Bringing […]
