Of course the best way to avoid having to wash away skunk stink is by avoiding an encounter. Besides the smell, the oil sprayed by the skunk can cause temporary blindness. Skunks, like raccoons and bats, are also known for carrying the rabies virus. If you run into a skunk, move away and take extra precautions if the animal seems aggressive. In case of an attack, seek medical attention right away to begin necessary treatment.
