Tomato Juice

This is the old stand-by that most have heard of. Basically, the vinegar in the juice is what removes the smelly oils from pet fur, furniture and other surfaces. It’s hit or miss and  dependent on how much the skunks sprays and the type of material to which it adheres. Since tomato juice is a natural and relatively benign substance, it usually makes for a good place to start. Simply pour small amounts on the surface affected and massage in. Let sit for a few minutes and then thoroughly rinse with clean water.
